This sprawling park is a pleasant surprise in the heart of Seminole’s suburbs. The lengthy, shaded drive into the park shows a paved bike and walking route that extends for quite some distance, ideal for getting your body moving while your mind finds some peace. The 35-foot observation tower and the beachfront overlooking glittering Boca Ciega Bay are the jewels of this location. From here, you may watch fish jumping, dolphins playing, and water birds looking for food. If you can, arrive close to sunset for a spectacular view of the water. The park is open everyday from 7 a.m. to sundown.

The world has been on a roller coaster recently, but here’s your opportunity to select your own experience with Empower Adventures – this time, over an Oldsmar natural preserve. This guided zip line trip, which includes a 60-foot tower, a 200-foot suspension bridge, and various zip lines, is guaranteed to get your pulse rate up. For COVID-era security, extensive safety procedures are in place, including rigorous disinfection of equipment and group spacing. Reservations are required; call or book online.

Northshore Park

Northshore Park may be the best area in St. Pete to bring a picnic and a nice read (though locals might argue that nearby Vinoy Park is a contender). If you become bored, Northshore Park has lots of green area for dogs and their owners to run about or play catch, and a long, paved trail along Tampa Bay is a favorite place for walkers, runners, cyclists, and rollerbladers. Sunrise here is worth getting up for if you’re an early riser. The brand-new St. Pete Pier is now open and offers plenty of free room to walk and explore!

Park at Fort De Soto

Fort De Soto Park is a hidden treasure in the county’s park system. Where else can you sunbathe on a lovely beach, cycle along a trail amid sand dunes, go camping, and see a Spanish War-era fort all in the same day? If nature is your thing, the park also has kayak rentals available through Topwater Kayak Outpost, where paddlers can glide through a tiny estuary while seeing Florida birds, fish, turtles, and other animals on a self-guided tour.
